Question:
Why have I been seeing ads for Sonic's for over a year, yet there are no Sonic's anywhere near me?

I haven't seen/heard of a Sonic's being within at least 80mi from me. I'd like to try them, but in the mean time why should I be assulted with tempting ad's that I can't act on?

I understand your frustration.

Many advertisers will place buys on certain programs that get national distribution (as in syndicated programs) and on cable channel programming (ESPN, TNT, etc.) Since these ads are nationwide, you see them whether or not you have a retail location near by.

There are no Walgreen's where I live, yet we get tons of TV and radio ads for them. Drives everyone here crazy...

James D had a good response, but I want to further add: there are fewer Sonics now.

You may notice the economy has put a different spin on the choices of several chains. Some are closing locations to tighten strings; some are doing that to go public for stock...Ultimately it's about new strategies in a struggling economy.

Some other chains which have recently decreased their numbers and/or gone out of business: Burger King, Black Angus/Cattle Co., Tony Roma's, Dunkin' Donuts, and more.

The headlines tell you the economy's improving, but consumers are suffering fewer choices ... and in most cases the "improvements" have also not added to mainstream jobs.

*sigh*

Sorry if you're getting the Sonic cravings from ads; my significant other's been saying that for a while!

I just want to say I feel your pain, Sonic's are no where near us and we see the ads all the time.
