I'll be visiting DC from Ohio for the first time in April and was wondering what restaurants everyone likes. Looking for good and not to expensive Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Seafood. Give the metro stop too if you know it...thanks!

The District offers a wide variety of cuisines. Some of our favorites include: Zaytinya (Greek mezze), 701 9th Street NW (Gallery Place / Chinatown Metro); Mandalay (Burmese), 930 Bonifant in Silver Spring MD (a bit of a walk from the Silver Spring Metro, but worth it!); Udupi Palace , 1329 University Boulevard East in Takoma Park MD -- you'll need to take a #18 Ride On bus from the Takoma Metro, but it has an absolutely great vegetarian buffet; Sushi Taro, 1503 17th Street NW (Dupont Metro); and Mar de Plata (Spanish tapas), 1410 14th Street NW (Dupont or U Street/Cardozo).

The District also has one of the largest Ethiopian communities in the USA, check out U Street NW for many good restaurants (Dukem, Etete).

Washingtonian magazine has good "Cheap Eats" and "Dirt Cheaps Eats" lists which will offer flavorful and less expensive dining options.

I'm vegan, so my idea of a great restaurant might not be yours.

If you don't mind trekking out to the 'burbs, there's a great vegetarian pan-Asian called Vegetable Garden in a strip mall across the street from the White Flint Metro station (I wish there were a similar place closer to me!).

I live in the Adams Morgan neighbhorhood of DC, and while it's not too close to a Metro station, there are several buses that go down 18th Street (the main strip) from the Woodley Park station. Adams Morgan has a variety of restaurants, and you're sure to find one you like.

In Cleveland Park off of the Red Line there are a bunch Spices is great sushi and Nam Viet is good Vietnamese all reasonably priced. Indique is a good Indian restaurant, costs a little more but than these others.

Dupont Circle also off the Red line as a slue of restaurants, some of the better ones are on Connecticut North of the circle. You will have your pick.

Enjoy!

BEST PIZZA IS PIZZARIA PARIDISO IN GEORGETOWN (havent been to the one in dupont, its supposed to be good though).

Samarai Sushiko in upper g-town(near the whole foods and glover park) is really good sushi.

If you want some AMAZING food(though expensive) Farenheit, the Ritz Carleton restaurant in G-Town, is amazing. The NY Strip Steak is the best thing I have ever tasted in my life.
